Third Monthly WARDA® Training at Indianapolis City-County Building Draws Outstanding Response INDIANAPOLIS, IN — October 7, 2026
WARDA® — Women Against Rape & Domestic Abuse successfully conducted its third monthly women's personal-safety training session today for female City-County Government employees at the City-County Building in Indianapolis.
The continuing monthly program is providing women with practical, realistic training designed to increase awareness, confidence, preparedness, and the ability to respond decisively when faced with a threatening situation.
The session combined personal-safety education with hands-on counter-assault training. Participants practiced practical defensive skills including the use of natural weapons, strikes, kicks, vulnerable targets, and defensive responses designed to help a woman disrupt an attack, create an opportunity, break contact, and escape.
THE WOMEN WANT MORE
The response to today's training was extremely positive. Post-training evaluations showed strong ratings for the usefulness and realism of the material, clarity of instruction, hands-on practice, instructor demonstration, training environment, opportunity to practice, and overall pace of the class.
Perhaps the strongest endorsement came when participants were asked what they would change or add to WARDA® training.
Their answers included:
“More time.”
“More often.”
“More sessions.”
That desire for continued training is exactly why programs such as WARDA® are important. Personal-safety skills should not simply be demonstrated once and forgotten. Awareness, confidence, physical skills, and the ability to respond under pressure improve through education, practice, repetition, and continued training.
MORE THAN SELF-DEFENSE

WARDA® is not simply a collection of physical techniques. Founded in 1998 by Grandmaster Javed Khan, WARDA® was developed as a practical counter-assault and personal-safety system designed specifically to help women recognize danger, understand their options, establish boundaries, respond effectively when necessary, and create an opportunity to escape.
The program emphasizes a progression from awareness and avoidance to decisive physical action when an attack cannot otherwise be avoided.
WARDA® does not teach women to live in fear. It teaches them to be aware, prepared, and capable of action.
THREE CLASSES — AND GROWING
The October 7 session marked the third monthly WARDA® class conducted for female City-County Government employees in Indianapolis, and the continued enthusiasm of the participants demonstrates a growing interest in additional training.
We sincerely thank every woman who participated in today's class, trained with enthusiasm, and provided valuable feedback afterward.
Their message was clear:
KEEP THE TRAINING COMING.
And WARDA® looks forward to doing exactly that.
